Today is #NationalDayOfReflection We mourn with all those who have lost loved ones and we reach out to those who are suffering in so many ways still in lockdown. We also must remember all the staff in our hospitals who continue to work under really tough conditions and thank them for their care and their love and their dedication #PuttingPatientsFirst.
Founder of Welfare For Healthcare, H-J Colston-Inge, visited the Royal Worcestershire hospital today, 23 March, to catch up with some of the staff. The meeting was partly to find out how the staff are coping one year into the pandemic but also to ensure that they know that they are not forgotten.

“Under the masks we are still smiling – and we love nursing,” said Cassie Broughton, Ward Manager at the hospital, “but we are broken.” Such poignant words made it clear how dedicated the staff are in their care of their patients but also how tough it continues to be working in such challenging conditions fighting the virus. H-J asked what it has been like to have to add stepping up to be family as well as the nursing job whilst visitors are not allowed into the hospitals. “We have come to see it as such a privilege to be part of these families and we make sure that they know we are doing everything we can to help them and their loved ones.”
Please give generously to our campaign to raise money to support these NHS heroes who love our loved ones in their darkest hours. Money raised will be used to buy care packages of hand cream, fresh fruit and other snacks to consume whilst on shift. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/welfareforhealthcare
