Suicide is everyone’s business – sponsored swim – 08 October, 2021

Mental health has been a major concern over the course of the covid pandemic and many people – young and old – have been brought very low indeed. Every year, 5,500 people in the UK take their own lives. Every one of those lives is precious and every loss is devastating for family, friends, colleagues and communities.

We are currently raising money through a sponsored swim on Friday 08 October for the work of the charity, MIND, to support their work in schools and workplaces around suicide prevention. Our small team of swimmers include Fran and H-J from the Welfare for Healthcare team as well as the Bishop of Worcester, Dr John Inge.

Olympic athlete, swimmer and TV commentator, Sharron Davies, gave some kind words of encouragement supporting this swim. “My daughter lost a very good friend of hers when she was 18 and knows about the impact suicide has on family and friends so this is an incredibly important project.”

Please donate what you can here.

LOVE AS THE RAINBOW

Our last campaign was called Love As The Rainbow and raised over £7,000 for NHS Charities Together and for victims of the Henan floods in China. Featuring a concert bringing together artists from the Chinese and Chinese-speaking communities in the UK plus a few guest professional musicians this concert will be performed virtually on 31 July 2021. Everyone involved gave generously donating their time and performances for free. Welfare For Healthcare was delighted partneron this initiative with the Chinese communities in the UK, remembering that, when fighting Coronavirus, ‘we are all in this together.’

It couldn’t be easier to donate. Please support NHS Together by making a donation here via our JustGiving page.
