Original Campaign 1: Welfare for Healthcare fundraising appeal

Our fundraising appeal raised over £10,000 within a month of Lockdown 1.0, largely through the generosity of the local community, for the Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust. Monies raised paid for pop-up shops in the hospitals in Kidderminster, Redditch & Worcester to provide free nourishment and hand cream for NHS staff as they worked tirelessly under brutal conditions. Thank you to all partners including Susan Birth, Red Penguin, Morrison’s, Asda, Lambs Removals, BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester, YouthComm Radio 106.7, Worcestershire Mothers’ Union, Worcester Cathedral, The ZipYard Worcester, Worcestershire Sixth Form College, Worcestershire Chinese Association and Epiphany Music who helped to gather momentum, supported the vision and worked so hard. Together we made it happen.

Campaign 2: Music for the Soul

In 2021 when the country felt weary of Covid and all of us had experienced some level of grief, we launched ‘Music For the Soul.’ Music has the power to heal and speaks when words fail us. Musicians from all backgrounds and genres, including cathedral organists, singer songwriters, gospel jazz musicians Brazilian Xote players, bamboo flute players and many more. All have shared their soulful music and submitted their tracks to be part of a global legacy playlist dedicated to patients and staff in hospitals but available to all.

The reason for the campaign? When Founder, H-J Colston-Inge, visited the hospital in March 2021 to talk to some of the hospital nurses, it was clear that they were still working so hard and under intense daily pressure. Music for the Soul speaks into this space and is designed as an encouragement and to bring hope.

We are broken but still smiling…staff are not just doing their normal jobs – but having to carry that additional burden of acting as family member during the crisis when no visitors have been allowed.

Cassie Broughton, Nursing Ward Manager

Thank you to our Music for the Soul project partner, Kate Justice Show at BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester. Check out the playlist here.

If you are an established or up-and-coming artist and would like to be part of this project, please get in touch.

Are we still raising money? Yes!

Campaign 3: Fortune Cookies for Chinese New Year

Hospital staff benefitted from the generosity of the Worcestershire Chinese Association and the National Lottery when we teamed up with them to donate 6,600 Fortune Cookies at Chinese New Year to give to every single member of staff at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust.

Current Campaign (4): Love as the Rainbow Fundraising Concert, 31 July 2021

Whilst COVID seems to be largely under control in the UK, the media is still inundated with coronavirus stories and the virus still impacts on our lives. Our healthcare frontline staff continue to be heroines and heroes and need our help to keep themselves – and us protected.

We are now raising funds for NHS Charities Together. Together with China-UK partners in the Chinese community in the UK we are holding a ‘Love as the Rainbow’ fundraising concert to be live-streamed on 31 July 2021. Featuring Chinese and guest musicians from other countries, this will be a concert of hope.
